Term One

Experimental textile

Firstly, we were tasked to divide an A1 sized paper into six equal squares and change their shape and form into three dimensional. I used many actions such as destroy, cut, sculpt, peel, rip, fold, wrap and many more to transform the form and shape of the paper. We then put the six individual pieces back together, then combined all the students paper crafts together into one massive art piece. We later shaped the art piece into a piece of fashion, to do that we punched a hole in the middle and created a cape.

Self-Standing Sculpture

The task was to create a free self standing sculpture from different found ordinary objects. The objects were of different materials such as wood, plastic and metal. After putting the sculpture together we were assigned to draw the sculpture using different forms of media to demonstrate the different textures of the material. Graphite pen was used to represent metal, charcoal for organic materials and felt-tip for plastic. We repeated the same process several times however the time frame was shorter each round.

Collage Drawing

I placed found ordinary objects from the studio around the university campus, and drew the object twice once to show highlight both the object and the space around the object on an A5 sized paper. The second time I drew the object was a close up only drawing the object.on an A1 paper. I collected a pair of 7 drawings and created collages using the drawings

Non-place

what is non place? Non-place or nonplace is a neologism coined by the French anthropologist Marc Augé to refer to anthropological spaces of transience where the human beings remain anonymous and that do not hold enough significance to be regarded as "places".
first. I looked around the campus for what I personally found as non place and quickly sketched them. I made around 20 sketches then I went pack to the studio and coloured a small section of the drawing with a bright colour. then I cut cardboard pieces and coloured them to fit recreate the sketches I did.

Typeface

I picked several alphabets and letters of different fonts and sizes and created sculptures using them by twisting, cutting and folding them into different shapes. I played the shadows and used my photography skills to use my photography skills the highlight the shadows of the sculptures. Having an architectural eye, I viewed the sculptures and shadows as building and architectural structures.
